Celebrate the Year of the Snake at MOCA with a fun-filled Lunar New Year Family Festival! Enjoy cultural activities and surprises for all ages.
Morning session: 10 AM–1 PM; Afternoon session: 2 PM–5 PM.
Limited free tickets available for Culture Pass, Cool Culture, and Culture Connected families. Tickets at the door if capacity allows.

Center of Attention: Lunar Infant
Celebrate Lunar New Year with an extended conversation about Isamu Noguchi’s Lunars, featured in the "Against Time: The Noguchi Museum 40th Anniversary Reinstallation" exhibition. Join us on the second floor for this insightful discussion, free with admission. No advance registration required.

Art for Tots (Ages 3–4): Gardens
Join us for Art for Tots (3–4), a program designed for preschoolers and their caregivers. This month, explore stones and sand through Noguchi’s sculptures inspired by Japanese gardens. The program includes gallery exploration and strategies for navigating museum spaces with young children. Registration includes full admission to the Museum.

Old Home Day @HRT
Step back in time at Historic Richmond Town's annual Old Home Day, a celebration of living history and Staten Island's cultural heritage. Explore historic trades through live demonstrations, sip freshly pressed apple cider, and savor warm soup cooked over an open flame. Enjoy the sounds of historical music and the crack of muskets across the village fields. Visit the Native Encampment and Voorlezer's House to experience the complex interactions between the Lenape and Dutch settlers of the 16th century. Weekend Art: Saturday Sketch Club
Explore the powerful prints and sculptures in Elizabeth Catlett: A Black Revolutionary Artist and All That It Implies at the Brooklyn Museum. Discover how artists use repetition in their work, and then create your own sketches inspired by the exhibition.

Summer Jazz: Siren Xypher
Swing by the Brooklyn Museum’s lobby in September for a jazz performance by Siren Xypher! This dynamic trio—Melanie Dyer (viola), Mara Rosenbloom (piano), and Kyoko Kitamura (vocals)—brings together art songs, spoken word, and improvisation for an evening of intricate, original music. Experience their unique blend of humor, warmth, and surprise. Presented in partnership with the Jazz Foundation of America.

Village Ghost Tours @HRT
Explore historic houses by candlelight and delve into folklore and mysteries from the past. This program is led by historical interpreters who discuss the lives and deaths of Staten Islanders, including the infamous accused who stood trial at the 3rd County Courthouse.

This program is not a paranormal 'Ghost Hunting' experience, but rather a storytelling interpretive program.
The tour begins at the Historical Museum. Please check in at the Third County Courthouse and Visitor Center at 441 Clarke Avenue, where you will be directed to the Museum.
Suitable for ages 8 and older. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
Weather permitting: runs rain or shine, except in cases of severe inclement or cold weather.
Pets are not permitted.

Food culture played a pivotal role in the 1964-1965 New York World’s Fair. Close to Home will host a scheduled series of social gatherings by serving tea in this installation. With this act of hospitality, Knight calls on viewers to consider the power of sensorial and experiential engagement to foster understanding, connection, and appreciation among people from various corners of the world.

Celebrate World Cyanotype Day on September 28th at MOCA! Join teaching artist Yu Rong and create your own cyanotype using paper shapes, leaves, and sunlight. MOCA Mid-Autumn Festival Mixer
Celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival with MOCA! Enjoy a festive evening filled with a mahjong lesson led by expert Sokie Lee, moonlit music from the New Asia Chamber Music Society, and a tasting of hand-brewed Qinghong rice wine. On Place and Process: In Situ Artist Fellows in the Studio @ Queens Museum
This two year fellowship provides artists rent-free studio space and a full-time salaried position at the Museum, encouraging co-creation, relationship building, situated research, and experimentation alongside QM’s staff and communities. Independent exhibitions have developed from each fellow’s engagement with the complexities of the Museum’s site, current and future programming, and QM’s archives of materials related to the 1939-1940 and 1964-1965 New York World’s Fairs that occurred in Flushing Meadows Corona Park.

Visitors who are blind or have low vision are invited to join Cameron A. Granger, Nsenga Knight, and Catalina Schliebener Muñoz in a virtual verbal description tour of their respective exhibitions, 9999, Close to Home, and Buenos Vecinos. Using various media and approaches across sculpture, printmaking, painting, collage, and video, these three artists engage with archives and history to reframe and consider new perspectives.

MOCACREATE: Qixi for You & Me! 你我的七夕 at Dyker Library
We’re celebrating Qixi, the most romantic holiday on the Chinese Lunar Calendar. On this night, Niulang and Zhinü, the cowherd and weaver girl, are able to meet for just one night. Help them reunite by adding a mixed-media magpie to our bridge of magpies and stars to shine the way. Then, celebrate those you adore by making a woven paper heart to share how you feel.

MOCA TALKS with Melody Yunzi Li: Cultural Mapping of American and Chinese Dreams
The Museum of Chinese in America (MOCA) cordially invites you to join an insightful discussion with Dr. Melody Yunzi Li, Assistant Professor in Chinese Studies at the University of Houston and author of Transpacific Cartographies: Narrating the Contemporary Chinese Diaspora in the United States. This event will explore how contemporary Chinese diasporic narratives address the existential loss of home for immigrant communities at a time of global precarity and amid rising Sino-US tensions.

Education Resource Room @ Noguchi

ShopRite Kidz Cook: Spring Rolls @SI Children's Museum
ShopRite Kidz Cook is a caregiver-and-me program that introduces children to a diversity of foods, explains cooking concepts and helps build dexterity with cooking utensils. Young cooks will be practicing their cooking skills to make a new and fun dish every class!
