Movie Night: The Abyss
Kicking off a monthly lineup of ocean-themed films, July's event features The Abyss on the flight deck. Settle in for an unforgettable movie night under the stars. Bring lawn chairs, picnic baskets, and blankets to watch the film on a giant inflatable screen with stunning views of the Hudson River and city skyline. The movie begins at sunset.
Doors open at 6:00pm. Last entry is at 8:30pm (subject to early closure based on capacity). All guests must enter through the Welcome Center to receive a ticket before entering the Museum.

Onsite Astronomy Night
Don't miss a special, FREE Astronomy Night event at the Intrepid! Polaris Dawn pushed the boundaries of private space exploration by achieving the first commercial spacewalk, the highest Earth orbit ever flown by humans, and the inaugural use of advanced SpaceX's Starlink laser-based communications. Astronauts Sarah Gillis and Anna Menon will share insights from their record-breaking experience and what it meant to be on the front lines of a new era in human spaceflight.
Doors open at 6:00pm. Talk begins at 7:00pm, doors close at 7:30pm (may close earlier if capacity is reached).

Kicking off a monthly lineup of ocean-themed films, June’s event features Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest on the flight deck. Settle in for an unforgettable movie night under the stars. Bring lawn chairs, picnic baskets, and blankets to watch the film on a giant inflatable screen with stunning views of the Hudson River and city skyline. The movie begins at sunset.

Virtual Astro Live
Viewers who have a passion for space science can meet astronauts, scientists, engineers, and other talents through this monthly program that explores space-themed topics!
Live streamed via the Intrepid Museum’s Facebook, YouTube, and X, as well as NASASpaceflight’s YouTube and X, and Kerbal Space Academy’s Twitch.

Inclusive Pride Family Day: Celebrate YOU!
Families of all ages and identities are invited to celebrate Pride through hands-on art and storytelling activities. Guests will explore celebrations of identity aboard Intrepid and learn about the history of LGBTQ+ communities in the Navy.
All registrants will receive a social narrative in advance to help prepare for the event. Teens are encouraged to visit the Teen Corner to create art, hang out and make friends. Current and former service members and their families who pre-register are invited to enjoy a special Military Family Lounge, featuring light beverages and snacks.
Entry to the Museum is FREE with event pre-registration!

Honoring Memorial Day: Stories of War Performance
Experience an unforgettable evening of dance, theater and spoken word as Exit12 and the Intrepid Museum present the 3rd annual Stories of War performance in honor of Memorial Day 2025. After an eight-week series of movement workshop with a diverse cohort of artists, veterans and military-connected individuals, this powerful performance will explore the effects of war on both veterans and civilians. Through art and storytelling, Stories of War fosters cross-cultural dialogue, promotes empathy and encourages healing. Free with advance registration!

Movie Night: Top Gun
Join us for a free screening of Top Gun! Enjoy views of the Hudson River and city skyline while screening the classic film on the flight deck. Guests are invited to bring lawn chairs and picnic blankets to view the film outdoors on a huge inflatable screen on the flight deck.

Inspiration Academy: Journeys to Joy - Frameworks on Belonging
How do we define joy? What can it look like in the classroom? Join us for a 90-minute professional development focused on the presence of joy and belonging in our lives and classrooms as we begin to reflect on the 2024-2025 school year. The session will discuss visual thinking strategies and inquiry techniques to engage students in the classroom! The workshop will also include a hands-on activity focused on student identity and belonging, which can be implemented in the upcoming school year. Register before May 9th at 3pm! (This course provides 1.5 CTLE credits.)

Fast Forward: Supersonic Aviation
Discover the fascinating world of supersonic jets, including the British Airways Concorde! Take a Concorde tour and participate in interactive activities during this sensory-friendly program. Free with advance registration.

Free Friday with Astronomy Night
Join us for Astronomy Nights—FREE, fun, and educational for the whole family! Enjoy talks from top scientists, hands-on activities, and demos led by museum educators. Local astronomers will be on-site with powerful telescopes to guide you through the night sky and answer your stargazing questions. Bring your own binoculars or use the experts' telescopes!

Inspiration Academy: Creating in Community - Learning Made Possible with Student Voices
Join the Intrepid Museum and the Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh for a 90-minute virtual professional development session focused on integrating student voices into classroom culture. Learn strategies to empower students and explore the history of the space shuttle Enterprise and its pop culture impact. The session also includes a workshop on student-centered learning and the power of co-creation in the classroom.

Access Family Program: Navigation: Finding Your Way (Teens)
From ships to planes, vessels of all types rely on navigation to find their way. Families will explore historic navigation tools and techniques used at sea and make connections to how we navigate the world today.

Join us for the 11th annual Girls in Science and Engineering Day, now part of NASA Explore Day! Dive into hands-on STEM activities, connect with NASA missions, and get inspired by scientists and engineers shaping the future. Open to all—bring your family and friends! Teens under 16 must attend with an adult chaperone.

Inspiration Academy: Inquiry That’s Out of This World!
Join the Intrepid Museum in partnership with New York Science Hall (NYSCI) for a 90-minute virtual professional development session that focuses on hands-on experimentation and inquiry-based learning. This session will explore the impact of engaging with space-age rockets, the Intrepid Museum's space shuttle orbiter, Enterprise, and the ethical issues surrounding space travel.
What to Expect:
Examine space artifacts and learn through interactive discussions.
Engage in a hands-on workshop that teachers can integrate into their classrooms.
Explore how engineers, designers, and makers collaborate to solve complex problems.
Credits: 1.5 CTLE credits.

Virtual Access Family Program: Full Steam Ahead! @ The Intrepid
Explore how the crew of the massive Intrepid aircraft carrier kept it moving, and go behind the scenes with a virtual reality look at its engine and fire rooms! This Access Family Program welcomes individuals with developmental disabilities and their families, alternating monthly between virtual and onsite sessions on select Sundays.

Inspiration Academy- Engineering without Fear: The Importance of Failure @Intrepid Museum
Join us for a virtual professional development program that explores how to support students when "failures" happen, using the Next Generation Science and Engineering Practices and the Engineering Design Process. Learn how to frame "failure" through social-emotional learning, hear from engineering professionals, and engage in an interactive workshop to enhance your teaching strategies.
This course offers 4 CTLE credits. Registered participants will receive a program link before the event. Virtual check-in starts at 8:45 AM EST. Note: materials are not provided.

Coding Together Mini-Hackathon @ Intrepid Museum
Calling all budding coders in grades 6-12! Join us for the Intrepid Museum’s annual Hackathon, where you'll learn, code, and create exciting projects with fellow future programmers. 80th Anniversary Talk: Battle of Leyte Gulf @The Intrepid
To commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Battle of Leyte Gulf, hear from Mike Fink, author of Intrepid's Fighting Squadron 18, as he explores the USS Intrepid’s pivotal role and the experiences of its brave aviators during this historic naval battle.

Virtual Astro Live: Europa Clipper
Join experts for an exciting discussion on the Europa Clipper mission to Jupiter's icy moon! Sensory Friendly Evenings: The Submarine Growler
Submarines are one of the most unique experiences in the Navy! Explore the submarine Growler and the A View from the Deep exhibition to learn more about the adventures and challenges of life underwater.
Teens and adults with autism or sensory disabilities (ages 14+) and their families and friends.

Teen Civics Event @ Intrepid Museum
Discover how you can actively participate in the upcoming election cycle! We invite teenagers and young adults to join us and learn how to stay informed and engaged in this election year. Hear inspiring stories from crew members aboard the Intrepid who exercised their right to vote, and find out how you can do the same!

History & Innovation: Women in the Military @ The Intrepid
This month, the Intrepid Museum and the Metropolitan Opera have teamed up for a behind-the-scenes program featuring its newest opera, Grounded. A special performance begins the evening, followed by a panel discussion featuring decorated female officers and artists reflecting on how work affects their domestic life, the roles of service to one’s country and one’s home, and the challenges of volleying identities between service and domestic life.
