ShopRite Kidz Cook: Spring Salad
Join our ShopRite Kidz Cook team at the museum! Young cooks will choose ingredients to make a delicious and nutritious salad.
ShopRite Kidz Cook at Staten Island Children’s Museum is a caregiver-and-me program that introduces children to a diversity of foods, explains cooking concepts and helps build dexterity with cooking utensils.
Every hour starting at: 12:00pm, 1:00pm, 2:00pm, 3:00pm
Ages 4 and up

Intro to Composting Workshop
Join us for a hands-on overview of composting, hosted by Snug Harbor Cultural Center & Botanical Garden! We encourage families to bring food scraps that they can contribute along with “browns” such as leaves and pine needles to a compost bin in a lasagna style. Participants will have the opportunity to meet worms who are an integral part of a good compost.

Showtime At The Museum: Educational Theatre!
Come with us as we take a tour of the “Mainstages: Educational Theatre.” Museum participants will discover interesting videos and music while bringing history to life through movement, music, improv, and critical thinking activities inspired by global cultures.
This month’s theme, “Crafty Construction,” invites kids to unleash their creativity by designing their very own theatrical experience. Participants will bring their imaginative scenes to life in a fun and interactive way. Join us for hands-on excitement and endless possibilities!

Weekend Walk – In! Workshop: TapesTREES 4/19/25
In honor of Earth Day, young artists will breathe new life into recycled fabrics, crafting vibrant tapestry trees that celebrate creativity and sustainability. Using repurposed materials, each tree will be a unique expression of environmental awareness, showcasing the beauty of upcycling. Join us in turning discarded textiles into stunning works of art, proving that even the smallest scraps can grow into something extraordinary! This is a recurring event so check the museum website for additional dates.

Cumbe Center for African Dance Workshop
Experience the vibrant rhythms and movements of the Congo with an unforgettable performance by Andoche Loubaki and his company, Mfouambila, where traditional dance and music come to life! From his early days in Brazzaville to international tours, Andoche continues to share the groove of Congo through energetic and captivating performances.

FREE admission to everyone with pre-registration! Play some big games, captain a pirate ship, control air currents, climb a rock wall, work on construction projects, ride a firetruck, perform a show on stage, walk-in to our art workshop, and after enjoy a guest artist performance.

Walk – In! Workshop: Gilding With Gold
Inspired by Rembrandt, Warhol, Klimt, Demuth, young artists will free draw or paint then use gold leaf or metallics with glue to “wash” over the work.

Practice Reading with a Pooch @ S.I. Children's Museum
Therapy dogs from Luv on a Leash are eager to hear stories read to them by our visitors. The dogs are well-trained, registered, and insured therapy dogs who love literature and will listen without judgement or comment. They hope to help children improve their reading ability, build confidence and develop a life-long love of books. Visitors are welcome to bring their favorite reads. Limited Availability.

Walk in! Workshop: Stone Painting @ The S.I. Children's Museum
In July, young artists will experience stone painting using acrylic paint pens and tempera sticks, creating colorful designs on stones and/or shells.

Amazon Juneteenth @ S.I. Children's Museum
Come and take a look at all we have to offer on Saturday, June 22. Amazon is sponsoring a free admission day (with registration) in honor of Juneteenth, day that commemorates the end of slavery in the Confederate states. It celebrates the day that news of the Emancipation Proclamation reached the farthermost edges of the Union at the time.

Silly Billy Magician @ S.I. Children's Museum
Silly Billy has been named New York’s top children’s entertainer by five different NYC publications and received a six-page profile in The New Yorker. Visitors will make cauliflower mac-and-cheese, a familiar classic with a tasty, nutritious twist. ShopRite Kidz Cook is a caregiver-and-me program that introduces children to a diversity of foods, explains cooking concepts and helps build dexterity with cooking utensils.
Workshops will be held at 11:30 am, 12:30 pm, 1:30 pm, 2:30 pm, and 3:30 pm. Included with admission.

Noon Year’s Eve Dance Party @ S.I. Children's Museum
We’ll be celebrating the eve of the New Year with a dance party, party favors, balloon drop and a two different countdowns, one at 12:00 pm and one at 2:00 pm. Come join us for a kid-centered silly celebrations. Be sure to arrive 30 minutes before your preferred countdown to be a part of the fun!

DJ Got Me Fit Dance Party @S.I. Children's Museum

¡Corre, Abuelita, Run! a bilingual puppet performance @ SI Children's Museum
In Spanish and English, New York City Children’s Theater Company presents the story ¡Corre, Abuelita, Run! It’s the first Sunday in November, and Emily’s Abuelita is running in the NYC marathon! Emily made a sign that reads “¡Corre, Abuelita, Run!” that she wants to hold up as Abuelita runs through the finish line – but she needs your help to travel through the five boroughs and get to Central Park in time to celebrate!

Walk in Workshop: Paint Dark @ SI Children's Museum
